Overcoming build volume restrictions by combining differential design and subsequent joining
The build volume of additive manufacturing systems is one of the challenges in additive manufacturing, as it limits the suitability of a component for additive manufacturing.
In the context of the DFG project with the project number 531952402, I am investigating how build volume restrictions can be overcome by combining differential construction and subsequent joining. The focus is on a model-based evaluation of the parting and joining surfaces, the influence of the joining technology on component properties of the parting surfaces and the integration of additive manufacturing potentials in the design of the joining zone. In addition, the knowledge gained from the evaluation is to be presented in a machine-readable form. Finally, it will be examined whether the computer-aided use of a graph-based representation is suitable for the selection of partial solutions in additive manufacturing.
