Modelling and simulation of electrical rolling bearing characteristics
Currents can be intentionally fed into rolling bearings to measure the electrical characteristics and draw conclusions about lubrication condition, load or wear. On the other hand, undesired bearing currents, e.g. in converter-fed electrical machines, can lead to damage of the raceway surfaces. The research objective is to improve the models required in both cases to calculate the electrical bearing characteristics. The models are validated by numerical simulation and tests on the institute's own Athene test bench.
