Use of potential additive manufacturing processes

Additive manufacturing processes enable the production of complex geometries and thus open up new potentials in product development. In order to systematically use this potential during development, new methods are necessary to support the developers.

Design and manufacturing of AM components with graded component properties

In addition to the geometric design freedom in the development of components for additive manufacturing, further component properties can be specifically influenced during the manufacturing process. These include, for example, density, surface roughness and mechanical properties. Some of these component properties can be adjusted locally during the manufacturing process. In order for these potentials to be recognized by the designer and utilized in a targeted manner during the design process, support is required in the form of methodical tools.
