The lecture “Product Innovation” aims at teaching strategies and methods for the development of innovative products. The lecture focuses on the concept process. It is shown how the single steps can be supported by using well-chosen methods and how innovative solutions can be generated this way. The contents of the lecture are explained and extended by means of many practically-oriented challenging examples.
The exercise is designed so that students can apply the contents taught in the lecture to a sample product. For this purpose, teams consisting of 4 to 6 students work on development tasks independently. By doing the exercises, the participants get a deeper insight into the application and use of strategies and methods for the development of innovative products. Apart from mediating methodological competence, the exercise focuses mainly on the extension of social competences such as ability to work in team and communicate, self-motivation and critical faculty. Furthermore, the exercises are good for the creativity of the practising students.
