Teaching, learning and application system for product development

Motivation und Goals:

In the product development field, a broad spectrum of competence and knowledge is covered by a variety of product development methods, processes, solutions and more, which are all described by different contents for different situations. The aim of the pinngate project is to develop a teaching, learning and application system to support different users in different situations with a high-quality content, according to their goal, in an individual and flexible way.

Master Plan:

The comprehensive pinngate approach incorporates various user roles which result in different scenarios and, accordingly, specific wishes and requirements. The authors create contents from their areas and put them in a modular form into the pinngate database. The configurators work with the available contents and create individual documents for different purposes. The users deal with either pre-configured documents to study or solve development problems, or navigate using various tools in the database to gather information about certain topics.

Modularisation approach:

Represetation and presentation of the contents take place seperately in pinngate. Single text blocks, images etc. are stored as modular units. Individual documents are created and formats are classified out of them. Thus, a high reusability and flexibility is reached.

Cooperating components:

For high flexibility, on the one hand, and high quality, on the other hand, the pinngate model distinguishes between content components with detailed describing models and application components that are interrelated by means of a navigator. The necessary object-specific metadata are generated using different methods with different degrees of automation.

Individual Use:

Nature, extent and presentation of PE contents can be individually configured in a reasonable cost-benefit ratio to meet the needs and expectations of different users in different situations optimally and thus ensure the acceptance of the PE contents. Therefore, there is a classification of users and situations, by means of which specific requirements and instructions, according to the scenario, are obtained for the document configuration.

Access concepts:

Different concepts are available for the flexible and targeted access to the contents. These range from tables of contents through search functions up to graphical concept networks. Thereby, the user requirements are taken into account in each case, in order to achieve an optimal supply of the users with the documents.
